FRIDAY, APRIL 8: AZALEA FESTIVAL

Profile America - Friday, April 8th. Now that spring is here, people are taking trips to enjoy the natural beauty of some of the nation's premier parks and gardens. Some 300,000 of them will come to Muskogee, Oklahoma, this month for the 43rd annual Azalea Festival at Honor Heights Park. There, they will find 30,000 azaleas of 625 different varieties, along with redbud and dogwood trees and other blooming plants. Across the U.S., nearly three-quarters of households take part in lawn and garden activities. About one-in-three grow flowers and just under that amount plan their own landscaping.
